Working principle of KOSUN drilling fluid degasser

In order to separate the gas effectively in the drilling, so an efficient degasser is essential to the safe and productive drilling operations. Since gas is practically insoluble in water, it is relatively easy to detect and remove. By comparison, gas is easily soluble in oilbase muds – its detection is more difficult as well as its removal. Regardless of the composition of the gas encountered, gas existing in the mud can decrease efficiencies in rig pumps, centrifugal pumps and associated operational solids control equipment. The goal is to “Keep the pumps Operating”.
Drilling fluid vacuum degasser ranks as the second stage of oil drilling mud solids control system. The drilling mud that are separated by the first stage device — shale shaker flows into the setting compartment of the mud tank. The drilled cuttings would settle into the setting pit, and the drilling fluids would flow over and into the second compartment. A sand pump would be used to pump the drilling mud from the second compartment up to the vacuum degasser, The drilling mud enters into the vacuum tank through the feeding pipe, and rotates by the rotor of the degasser, by the effect of centrifugal force, the drilling fluids would be threw to the inner wall of the vacuum tank, and the gases that migrate into the mud would be separated from the mud. Vacuum layer would be generated by the vacuum pump that are mounted on the skid of degasser, so the gases that are separated would be pumped out to the water-gas separator by the vacuum pump and be discharged through the relief linepipe and finally be flared by the electrical ignition device at a place that are 60 to 80 meters away from the drilling rig.

The vacuum degasser uses the suction of the vacuum pump to establish an under balanced pressure area in the vacuum cylinder and causes the drilling fluid into the hollow shaft of the rotator through suction pipe under the atmosphere pressure, and then lets the fluid spray to the walls of the cylinder from the windows on the hollow shaft, now the gas bubble cut in the mud may break and run off in the function of vacuum pump suction to a safe area due to the fluid collision and bubble separator. However, the mud will enter the drainage cavity forced by its self-weight and pass the rotator and discharge off the cylinder. In addition, drilling mud can enter the pump cylinder only through the suction pipe, and can’t be sucked in through the discharge pipe because the vacuum pump and the master motor are started simultaneously and the rotator connected to the motor will revolve at a high speed.

The mud/gas separator in the drilling mud system

The mud circulation system with mud gas separator, in oil drilling solids control system, the 1st phase cleaning equipments of mud circulation system is shale shaker, which is fed the mud from high pressure manifold, the mud gas separator is fed mud from the chock manifold. When much of harmful gas is found during drilling, they close the valve to stop feeding the drilling fluid shale shaker, and open the valve to feed to mud gas separator, and use hundreds of exhaust pipe to transfer the harmful gas from mud gas separator to a place far from well head, and use flare ignition device to burn it.

Shear pump in drilling fluid solids control

Shear pump is on the basis of existing centrifugal pump theory, through the improvement to develop a new, efficient centrifugal pump, is designed for quick preparation and dispose drilling fluid in the solids control equipment system.

Desander, a kind of solid control equipment for sale in Pakistan

Desander, a kind of solid control equipment, is a combination of cyclone desander and shale shaker of drilling fluid. The hydrocyclone is made from high chromium cast iron for good rigidity.
The KOSUN desander is designed on the basis of particle setting principle. The separated medium-drilling liquid enters along the inner wall of clone spirally, depending on the pressure and speed produced by sand pump. Under the function of centrifugal force and gravity, the larger particles are sunk along the inner wall of clone spirally and drained from bottom outlet to be separated in shale shaker with smaller mesh. Other mediums are ascending along clone spirally to enter the third–class separation device from overflow outlet for further purification.
KOSUN desander is the second phase solids control equipment, it can be combine with desilter, to treat the drilling fluids, the most common cone is 8” or 10”, mainly separate size of 47-76μm solids particles out from drilling fluids. According to clients’ treating capacity can choose the number of cones.

Desander, as stated earlier, have no moving parts. The larger the internal diameter (ID) of the desander is, the greater the amount of fluid it is able to process and the larger the size of the solids removed. Desander (10 in.cone) are able to remove roughly 50 percent of those solids within the 40-50 micron range at a flow rate of 500 gallons per min (gal/min), while desilter (4 in. Cone) are able to remove approximately 50 percent of those solids within the 15-20 micron range at a flow rate of 60 gal/min. Micro fine separators are able to remove around 50 percent of those solids within the 10-15 micron range at a flow rate of 15 gal/min. Desander is typically positioned next-to-last in the arrangement of solids control equipment, with decanting centrifuge as the subsequent processing unit. Desander are preceded by gas busters, gumbo removal equipment (if utilized), shale shakers, mud cleaner (if utilized) and vacuum degasser.Desander is widely used in oilfield drilling.

Vacuum Degasser in Drilling Mud Cleaning for Sale

Vacuum Degasser as a second stage cleaning equipment is mainly use to remove gas immerged in mud. It is usually fixed after shale shakers. Vacuum degasser ensures proper mud weight pumped down well to prevent potential blowout in drilling. It’s a very important equipment in degassing process.
Vacuum Degasser is used to remove the small entrained gas bubbles left in the mud by the mud/gas separator. These units are positioned downstream from mud/gas separators, shale shakers and mud cleaners, while hydrocyclones and centrifuges follow in the arrangement.
Degasser belongs to the vacuum degasser, namely use the suction effect of the vacuum pump to create negative pressure region in the vacuum tank, and the mud enter the hollow shaft of the rotor through the suction tube under the action of the atmospheric pressure. And then the mud spray to the tank wall through surrounded windows of the hollow shaft. As collision and the function of separate wheel, the mud separated into thin layers, bubble immersed in the slurry breakup and gas escape. Gas is discharged to safe zone from gas separator through the suction of vacuum pump and separation of gas-water separator. the mud is discharged outside of the tank by impeller. As the main motor start first, the impeller associated with the motor is in a high-speed rotation state, so mud gets into the mud tank only from the suction pipe not be sucked from the liquid discharge tube.
