Decanter centrifuge is a device for continuously separating particulate solids from a suspending liquid by sedimentation and decanting.
The decanter centrifuge embodies a simple principle, that of screw conveyor. In basic terms, the decanter centrifuge comprises a solids cylindrical bowl rotating at high speed. Inside the bowl is a scroll(screw conveyor) rotating at a slightly different speed. The differential speed between bowl and scroll provides the conveying motion to collect and remove the solids which accumulate at the bowl wall.
The drilling centrifuge can be used for most types of liquid/solid separation and its ability to handle a wide range of feed slurry concentrations adds to its general versatility.
Nowadays, the decanter centrifuge has become a major processing tool in a wide ranges of liquid and solid separation applications. Mostly, the decanter centrifuge is used as a solids control equipment in oilfield drilling project recovey, in which the decanter centrifuge served as 4th solid control equipment to remove the undesirable solids with diameter above 2 μm mixed in drilling fluids.

KOSUN drilling fluids desander’s daily maintenance
The mud desander is the two-level solids control equipment used for drilling fluid treatment. The desander and desilter is mainly used for separating those solid particles with the granularity of 47 to 76 microns in the drilling fluid. Structure of desander
Here are several unmissed points on desander’s daily maintenance:
1. No butter should be applied insider its hydrocyclones and seal groove cavity on the top since they are sealed by metal which will be damaged by the potential particle content or fixture from butter.
2. Spare filter element and adequate O-shape sealing ring should be fully prepared.
3. Visual inspection should be conducted into its hydrocyclones.
4. Indicated value displayed on pressure differential gauge should not surpass 3MPa when it is working.
5. Only one hydrocyclone is rolling while the other one is saved for later use.
6. Six-hourly examination of wall thickness should be carried out on key parts of desander.
7. A sudden fall of pressure differential indicates damaged filter element. In this case, one hydrocyclone should be shut and another one started.
8. Filter element should be taken out and examined after one day finishes.
9. The butter from screw thread should be prevented from blocking desander filter element. If blocked, it should be moved from machine and cleaned by high-pressure steam.
10. The moment the filter element is moved from machine, it should be cleaned by water at once to avoid precipitation of sand or support agent at essential points.

a. Adjustable swirler underflow The swirler underflow can be adjusted by changing the swirler nozzle.
b. Long service life The material of the swirler is polyurethane,so the swirler is wear resistant,light weight,corrosion resistant,and not easily aged.

Working principle of vertical centrifuge
Vertical Centrifuge is also called Vertical Cutting Dryer,it is a innovative design which fit for Oil based drilling waste management.Drilling cuttings from the primary solids control equipments like shale shakers,mud cleaners which is picked up by Auger(Screw) conveyor and transfer to feeder of the vertical cutting dryer.
Working principle
Vertical dryer is the ideal product for oil based drilling waste management. A stainless steel screen bowl traps "wet" solids and accelerates them up to 820RPM with G force up to 360. Liquid is forced through the screen bowl openings, while "dry" solids are extracted by the angled flights attached to the cone, which rotates slightly less slowly than the bowl.

OSUN drilling mud decanter centrifuge for Algeria
Like hydrocyclones, decanter centrifuges are designed to speed up the settling process. The rotating speed is transformed into centrifugal force inside the rotating assembly to accelerate particle settling in accordance with Stoke’s Law.
