The centrifuge of series LW is driven by two motors. The main motor drives the drum and outer casing of differential through the belt. And the auxiliary motor, after shifting gears by the differential, will drive spiral propeller, which will make the drum and the spiral propeller rotate in the same direction with revolution difference possessed to some extent.

And when the material is fed into the inner canister of the spiral propeller from the feed pipe, the material will be flowing to the drum wall through material exit. The degree phase of the material is different because it is subjected to different centrifugal force and so, the material with heavy phase will be quickly accumulated onto the inner wall of drum while the material with light phase will slowly stick to the surface of heavy phase, a layer of interface to be formed between degree phases. And along with increase of heavy phase accumulation, the top end of spiral vanes will be inserted into the accumulated layer of heavy phase. By this step, the drum and spiral impeller are rotating with high speed in the same direction, having differential speed value to some extent. And the relative revolution difference is making grain of heavy phase move to the material exit on the small end while the liquid of light phase is forming into passage, flowing to the exit of liquid phase. The overflowing mouth position of liquid phase is controlled by the regulating plate.

The Centrifugal Pump Is A Multifunction Pump In A Solids Control System

A complete centrifugal pump is consist of motor and pump head, while the pump head is mainly consist of volute casing, impeller & shaft, etc.  When the fluids flow into the suction eye of impeller, through the impeller rotatory, effected by the centrifugal force, it would be pushed towards to the volute casing, and the centrifugal force on the drilling fluids would also be increasing, and is discharged to the destination space. Thus, the pressure at the impeller suction eye would be reduced, which would leads more fluids flowing into the pump.

The vacuum degasser is a high-efficiency in-line model that removes dissolved gasses from HPLC solvents. Its unique design assure reliable continuous operation and the highest level of continuous performance available without the need for helium degassing. Up to five solvent lines may be degassed simultaneously by one unit. The extremely low internal volume of each teflon AF channel offers very quick equilibration and very short startup times compared with PTFE degassing channels which have the same degassing efficiency.

Vacuum degasser ranks as the second stage of solids control system. The drilling mud that are separated by the first stage device — shale shaker flows into the setting compartment of the mud tank. The drilled cuttings would settle into the setting pit, and the drilling fluids would flow over and into the second compartment. A sand pump would be used to pump the drilling mud from the second compartment up to the vacuum degasser, The drilling mud enters into the vacuum tank through the feeding pipe, and rotates by the rotor of the degasser, by the effect of centrifugal force, the drilling fluids would be threw to the inner wall of the vacuum tank, and the gases that migrate into the mud would be separated from the mud. Vacuum layer would be generated by the vacuum pump that are mounted on the skid of degasser, so the gases that are separated would be pumped out to the water-gas separator by the vacuum pump and be discharged through the relief line pipe and finally be flared by the electrical ignition device at a place that are 60 to 80 meters away from the drilling rig.

Vacuum Degasser Sometimes Used As Second Stage Equipment In Drilling Solids Control System

A degasser is a device used in drilling to remove gasses from drilling fluid which could otherwise form bubbles.For small amount of entrained gas in a drilling fluid, the degasser can play a major role of removing small bubbles that a liquid film has enveloped and entrapped. In order for it to be released and break out the air and gas such as methane, H2S and CO2 from the mud to the surface, the drilling fluid must pass degassing technique and it can be accomplished by the equipment called degasser which is also a major part of a mud systems.

Vacuum Type is the most common form of degasser. It can be horizontal, vertical or round vessel. A vacuum action is created to pull in the gas cut mud. When the liquid enters the tank it will flow and be distributed to a layer of internal baffle plates designed for the mud to flow in thin laminar film and is exposed to a vacuum that forces the gas to escape and break out of the mud.The vacuum pump moves the escaping gas from the vessel discharging it to the rig's flare or environmental control system.

Vacuum Degasser as a second stage cleaning equipment is mainly use to remove gas immerged in mud. It is usually fixed after shale shakers. Vacuum degasser ensures proper mud weight pumped down well to prevent potential blowout in drilling. It’s a very important equipment in degassing process. 

Vacuum Degasser is used to remove the small entrained gas bubbles left in the mud by the mud/gas separator. These units are positioned downstream from mud/gas separators, shale shakers and mud cleaners, while hydrocyclones and centrifuges follow in the arrangement.

Degasser belongs to the vacuum degasser, namely use the suction effect of the vacuum pump to create negative pressure region in the vacuum tank, and the mud enter the hollow shaft of the rotor through the suction tube under the action of the atmospheric pressure. And then the mud spray to the tank wall through surrounded windows of the hollow shaft. As collision and the function of separate wheel, the mud separated into thin layers, bubble immersed in the slurry breakup and gas escape. Gas is discharged to safe zone from gas separator through the suction of vacuum pump and separation of gas-water separator. the mud is discharged outside of the tank by impeller. As the main motor start first, the impeller associated with the motor is in a high-speed rotation state, so mud gets into the mud tank only from the suction pipe not be sucked 

from the liquid discharge tube.

The Important Functions of Desander And Desilter for The Oilfield And Drilling

Solids control is a technique used in drilling rig to separate the solids in the drilling fluids that are crushed by the drill bits and carried out of the well surface. Normally solid control system is consist of five stages, including mud tank, shale shaker, vacuum degasser, desander, desilter, centrifuge. Shale shaker is used to separate the big solids with diameter above 75μm, and 45~74μm for desander, and 15~44μm for desilter. Sometimes desander & desilter are combined as high efficient mud cleaner. When air enters into the drilling fluids, vacuum degasser is used to separate the air. If no air in the mud, the degasser would work as a big agitator. All these equipments are mounted on the top of the mud tank. After separating the solids, the clean mud would be pumped into the borehole again.

Desanders and desilters are solid control equipment with a set of hydrocyclones that separate sand and silt from the drilling fluids in drilling rigs. Desanders are installed on top of the mud tank following the shale shaker and the degasser, but before the desilter. Desander removes the abrasive solids from the drilling fluids which cannot be removed by shakers. Normally the solids diameter for desander to be separated would be 45~74μm, and 15~44μm for desilter.
