KOSUN dryer shaker for mud drilling cuttings treatment

KOSUN high G dryer shaker for water based mud drilling cuttings treatment, have two models for choose. One model is only High G shaker without beneath tank.  In this case, the operator should design one cement pit or separate mud tank to hold the liquid part after High G shale shaker.  The other model is High G shaker with beneath tank for fast use.

After High G shaker, high speed and variable speed decanting centrifuge will be used for fine solids separation. KOSUN design decanter centrifuge with height adjustable skid for convenient use.

1) High G shaker with beneath tank: The shaker is KOSUN shaker with 4 panel shaker screen (composite material frame screen and steel frame screen both available). The drying time should be longer than 2 panel or 3 panel shaker, and the performance should be much better. The shaker with hopper type feeding, total height is much lower than weir type feeding or box type feeding, match better with drilling cuttings treatment job.

2) High speed decanter centrifuge with high skid.  With this high skid, the centrifuge downside space can be enlarged; screw conveyor can be installed beneath easily to transfer the drilling cuttings / drilling waste discharged from centrifuge to skips. Meanwhile, the high skid centrifuge liquid discharge can be flow back to active mud tank easily by gravity, no need extra mud transfer pumps.

With strict government regulations on environmental protection, less mud pit is used to storage drilling waste; on line drilling cuttings management / drilling waste management equipment is mostly used. As per the drilling job condition, some customer may by 2 sets High G shaker and 2 sets decanter centrifuge. 1 set for use; 1 set for backup in case the equipment need daily maintenance.

Composition and hazards of waste drilling fluid

Maintenance highlights of KOSUN mud decanter centrifuge

While operating well drilling, the drilling fluid centrifuge machinery is one of the central equipment that is often used, its purpose is mainly used for separating fine solid debris whose diameter size are 2-7 μm from the drilling fluid.   By using the drilling fluid decanter centrifuge to remove solid debris, it can effectively well lubricate and protected the drill bit; it also has a very important role of improving drilling bit speed. However, there are some inherent mechanical issues if not solved it will give the operators many function issues.

Vertical Centrifuge and High G Dryer used in Drilling

One of the valuable fluids recovery techniques for the OilBase Mud (OBM) is Vertical Centrifuge:
1.Reducing liquid on cutting (OCC%) to less than 5%.

Shale shaker is the first stage solids control equipment in drilling fluids system, it is the first line of defense for the whole mud system. The first line of defense for a properly designed solid control system is the shaker. Particles smaller than the openings in the screen pass through the holes of the screen along with the liquid phase of the mud. Particles too large to pass through the screen are thereby separated from the mud for disposal. Screening surfaces used in solids control equipment are generally made of multi-layered woven wire screen cloth and are the “heart and soul” of the shaker. Fundamentally, the quality of a shaker is defined by the quality of screens it utilizes. When selecting a solids control system, it is important that the quality of the screen manufacturing and experience in manufacturing screens is considered.
If the system is appropriately set up with a scalping system and a fine screen system, the scalping screens must be sized just coarse enough to ensure that drilling fluids does not sheet off the shaker (i.e. whole mud losses). This happens when the scalping screen is too fine to allow the drilling fluids to pass into the solids control system’s dirty tank. Typical scalping screen configurations for HDD applications range from 50 mesh (API 50) to 120 mesh (API 100). Typical fine screen configurations range from 160 (API 120) to 200 mesh (API 170). KOSUN Shear Pump Is a Mechanical Equipment

In drilling mud system, shear pump is one kind of centrifugal pump. It includes overhead belt, and centrifugal pump. Furthermore, some of oil drilling shearing pump will include venturi hopper, overhead belt and centrifugal pump assembly.

Drilling Mud Equipment in Mud Cleaning System

Solids control equipment are mainly used for solids control and solids-fluid separation to achieve drilling mud recycling utilization. Solids control system is an combined system in which equipped with 3 to 7 circulating tanks and configured with 4 phases of purification equipment or solids control equipment, which is fit for 2000 to 7000 meters deep oil drilling processes. The whole solids control system is innovative with conical tanks and installation with mud agitating system to prevent solids from depositing. In addition, the tanks and bins involved in the solids control system will be comparted or unitedrationally depending on the demands of drilling processes. Each of them is connected to another via pipe network in which the valves at the bottom of suction pipes are flexible while opened, but can turn to be a good seal when closed.

Solids control equipment are usually combined as an organic composition of solids control system where consists of four phases of solid control equipment, safety equipment, and other auxiliary equipment that are linked together via pipelines as well as mud tanks which are the mud carriers. The arrangement of each solids control equipment is sequenced by separation effects in descending order. The primary drilling fluids flow through diversion pipes into shale shaker, where its larger cuttings (d≧74μm) are separated and the rest flow into mud tank via screen frame. Then the vacuum degasser will suction it into the degasser tank for further gas-fluid separation when there are some gas bubbles in drilling fluids. Afterwards, it will be pumped into desander and desilter for more solids removal by the centrifugal force produced in desander cones. Solids with diameter between 15-44 μm are to be taken out in desilter and later on, the treated drilling fluids will stream to the mud tank below decanting centrifuge through the pipelines above cones for the last purification. It is pumped into centrifuge by submersible slurry pump ( screw pump ) and its solids with diameter above 2μm will be plucked out by centrifugal force again. All the tanks in the system are linked by built-in pipelines and may be used to contain any kind of drilling mud accordingly in any purification phase. Furthermore, they also work together with jet mud mixer for mud concoction.

A wide range of different solids can be separated from one or two liquid phases continuously.

The Working Principle of Decanting Centrifuge
Decanter centrifuges work by generating a centrifugal force that presses the solid particles outside against a rotating bowl, while the less dense liquid phase forms a concentric inner layer. The solid particles are continuously removed by a screw conveyor, which rotates at a different speed than the bowl. The solids are compacted and discharged from the bowl. Baffles in the centrifuge casing channel the separate phases into the correct flow path. The speed of the screw conveyor can be automatically adjusted by use of a variable frequency motor to adjust the variation of the solids load.

Decanter centrifuges are divided into four sections:
Inlet Section - where the feed enters the decanter;
Screw Conveyor - which conveys and separates the solid phase from the fluids;
Solids Discharge Section - from where the solid "cakes" exit the unit;
Liquid Discharge Section - from where the liquid is discharged.
